FOLLOWING THE WHISPERS OF A WILD HORSE PHOTOGRAPHER..

Imagine being born in a place where thousands of butterflies dance around you, where summers are spent on a finca filled with horses, waterfalls, and countless creatures waiting to be discovered. Imagine towering eucalyptus trees reaching toward the sky, the scent of citrus blossoms drifting through the air, and a macaw living in your backyard.

This is my home—Ecuador.

A country overflowing with beauty, wonder, and life. It was there, surrounded by nature's quiet rhythms, that my curiosity began. Long before I ever picked up a camera, I learned to observe, to listen, and to marvel at the extraordinary found in the ordinary.

That childhood became the foundation of everything I create today. Through my fine art wildlife photography, painting, and writing, I seek to capture more than what is seen. My work explores the connection between wildlife, landscapes, and the human spirit, inviting us to slow down, pay attention, and rediscover our place within the natural world.  

MORE THAN JUST A PHOTOGRAPH.......

There is something extraordinary that happens when wild horses enter your life. Their presence has a way of healing our souls. Watching them run together, spar, graze on eel grass, or simply rest in the quiet company of one another feels like witnessing a symphony—each horse moving in harmony with the rhythm of the herd. To be among them is to stand in the presence of magnificence. Yet that same sense of wonder can be found throughout nature—in the first rays of sunlight, the songs of birds greeting a new day, or the quiet beauty of a fading sunset. These moments remind us that we are part of something far greater than ourselves. Through my fine art photography, I hope each image invites you to pause, reconnect, and experience the wonder that nature so generously offers.

WHY I CREATE

Art has the incredible power to change our lives. I believe we are all connected and that the natural world has much to teach us. As a fine art wildlife photographer, I have learned that wild horses, landscapes, and the ever-changing light reveal lessons about resilience, stillness, freedom, and grace.

Long before photography became part of my life, I was captivated by different cultures and the stories they carried. Traveling the world taught me that although our customs, beliefs, and traditions are beautifully diverse, they are rooted in the same desire to understand who we are and our place within the world.

Many ancient cultures understood something we are only beginning to remember—that we are not separate from nature, but an inseparable part of it. Their reverence for the land, the animals, and one another continues to shape the way I see, the way I create, and the stories I choose to tell.

Fine art wildlife photography became a natural extension of my creativity, allowing me to express what words alone cannot. Whether I am photographing wild horses, the quiet strength of an ancient tree, or the fleeting light of sunrise, I seek to capture not only what I see, but what I feel. Every image is an invitation to slow down, to be present, and to awaken wonder.

After more than three decades in education, I learned that transformation begins with curiosity.

Photography has taught me that every image begins and ends with the feeling—from my heart to yours. My hope is that my images inspire a reconnection to what has been forgotten and, in doing so, awaken a deeper commitment to protecting our natural world.  

And so, whether through painting, photography, or writing, I will continue to explore and share what I most love.

THEN CAME THE WILD HORSES

Life has a way of placing guides and mentors along our path. My journey was no exception.

Years ago, a photographer looked at my images of birds and said something that would stay with me:

"You should become a wild horse photographer."

At the time, I smiled and continued chasing hawks throughout Arizona's skies. I didn't think much of it. But sometimes words of wisdom arrive long before we are ready to hear them.

Then, one day, the calling came.

It led me in search of wild horses
across the American West—from Arizona and Colorado to Utah and Nevada. It was
there that I fell in love with the Onaqui wild horses. The moment I saw
them, something changed. I was captivated by their beauty, resilience, quiet
dignity, and the deep connection they shared with one another and the land they
call home.

Soon afterward came the roundup.
That moment forever changed the way I viewed America's wild horses.
